GoDaddy Affiliate Program Review 2024

Unless this is your first ever time using the internet, you’ve definitely heard of GoDaddy.

You probably remember one of their, ummm, questionable Super Bowl ads.

And with such strong brand recognition, you’re probably wondering if the GoDaddy affiliate program is good for making money.

Well, you’ve come to the right place because in this GoDaddy affiliate program review, we’re going to explain:

  • Exactly what GoDaddy does
  • Why web hosting is an attractive affiliate marketing niche
  • How the GoDaddy affiliate program works
  • How to earn money through the GoDaddy affiliate program
  • What we love (and don’t love) about it

So without further ado, let’s get into it…

About GoDaddy

Godaddy Homepage

GoDaddy describes itself as “the world’s largest services platform for entrepreneurs around the globe”.

In plain English, it sells web hosting services and other complementary products, covering everything from domain registration to email marketing to building websites.

And it’s pretty damn good at it.

So good, in fact, that its customers own more than 84 million domain names, giving it the highest market share of any web hosting company in the world:

As you can probably imagine, that’s a big niche to dominate.

By 2027, the global web hosting market will be worth more than $171 billion.

So it’s no surprise that the company’s revenues reached almost $4 billion in 2021.

In other words, making money definitely isn’t a problem for GoDaddy.

But can you grab a slice of the pie by promoting the GoDaddy products and services?

How Does GoDaddy’s Affiliate Program Work?

How to Become a GoDaddy Affiliate

First things first, let’s discuss the requirements for joining the GoDaddy affiliate program.

Whereas some affiliate programs have a ton of stipulations, GoDaddy is pretty laissez-faire about the whole thing. You just need to satisfy two criteria:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have your own website

And given that you’re promoting hosting plans (and related services), it’s a good idea to have a website anyway.

Provided you tick those boxes, you can move onto the next step: registering as a GoDaddy affiliate.

The GoDaddy affiliate program is powered by an affiliate network called CJ Affiliate (FKA Commission Junction).

So the signup process varies based on whether or not you’re a CJ Affiliate member.

If you already use Commission Junction, it’s simple: just search for GoDaddy in the advertisers section and click the button marked Apply to Program:

If you’re not a CJ Affiliate user, things get slightly more complicated.

First, you’ll need to navigate to the GoDaddy affiliate program landing page and hit the Join Now button:

Godaddy Affiliate Program Signup

Here, you’ll be presented with a simple signup form that asks you to select your language and country, submit a verifiable email address, and create a password.

Next, head over to your inbox and click the link in the email from CJ Affiliate.

You’ll be asked to read and accept a bunch of terms and conditions, and confirm that you’re both over 18 and able to act on behalf of your company (if relevant).

Congrats, you’ve created your Commission Junction account!

From here, you’ll be taken to an integrated dashboard housing all the various affiliate programs you can apply for, plus all the tools you need to create affiliate links and track performance.

But that’s not quite the end of the process: you’ve still got to tell CJ Affiliate about your website.

To do that, click on the Account tab and select Network Profile:

Cj Network Profile

Here, you’ll be asked to:

  • Describe your business model, including your strengths, business goals, and relevant statistics about traffic or demographics.
  • Discuss which channels and platforms you’ll use to promote GoDaddy and other CJ Affiliate programs.
  • Submit any relevant documents, like Google Analytics screenshots or a media kit.

Finally, head back to the Account tab and choose Administrative Settings, then add your tax information and payment details.

And that’s it!

Now you can do what we described at the start of this section: search for the GoDaddy affiliate program and click to apply.

Expect to wait a couple days to hear back, after which you’ll (hopefully) be able to start promoting GoDaddy straight away.

What Are GoDaddy’s Affiliate Commission Rates?

GoDaddy offers a one-off 10% commission on:

  • Domain registrations
  • Web hosting
  • Website building packages
  • Email marketing products

And various other services, including Office 365 products and ecommerce solutions.

What Cookie Length Does GoDaddy Offer?

GoDaddy affiliate link tracking lasts for 45 days.

In other words, when you’re referring customers, they need to convert within 45 days if you’re going to earn a commission.

How Does GoDaddy Pay Affiliates?

The company offers a choice of three payment methods:

  • Direct deposit
  • Check
  • Payoneer (for affiliates based outside the US)

GoDaddy uses what Commission Junction calls a standard locking cycle, which means payments lock on the 10th of each month.

So if you earn a commission in January, it’ll lock on February 10th (unless GoDaddy requests more time to review your transactions).

Once commissions are locked, they’re eligible for payment in the next payment window.

Commission Junction has two payment periods:

  • Around the 20th (for all currencies)
  • Around the 28th (for payments in USD, GBP, or EUR)

One more thing on payments: to receive your hard-earned commissions, your closing balance must reach the minimum amount set up in your account.

For instance, if your minimum payment is set to $100, your closing commission balance must be at least $100, otherwise your balance will be rolled over.

How to Make Money With the GoDaddy Affiliate Program

We’ve covered the ins and outs of how new affiliates can join GoDaddy’s program.

Now, let’s take a look at a couple strategies to earn money as a GoDaddy affiliate.

Build An Authority Site

As we’ve already noted, you can’t do affiliate marketing for GoDaddy unless you own a website.

So you might as well use your site to generate traffic and refer customers.

We talk through exactly how to do this in our in-depth guide on how to become an affiliate marketer.

But if you don’t already have a website, one of your first challenges is to choose an affiliate niche that closely aligns with the products and services GoDaddy sells. Example niches could include:

  • Digital marketing
  • Technology
  • Side hustling
  • Startup advice

Start Email Marketing

Email marketing isn’t really a standalone money-making channel.

Why?

Because you need some other channel to build up your mailing list.

If you only send emails to your mom, you’re (probably) not going to drive a lot of sales.

Try building a lead magnet — like a whitepaper, a video, or a webinar — and offering it as a download on your website, in exchange for people’s email addresses.

That takes a bit of work, but once you’ve done it, you can deliver all your latest content straight to your audience’s inboxes.

And it’s definitely worth the effort, because email marketing drives an average return of $44 for every $1 spent.

Launch a YouTube Channel

Done right, YouTube can be an excellent affiliate marketing channel.

For a proper guide, check out our article on YouTube affiliate marketing.

But as a brief primer, it’s basically about creating content around products and services, then including affiliate links in your video descriptions.

Just remember to paste the links at the top of the description section so they’re easy for your audience to find.

Pros & Cons of GoDaddy’s Affiliate Program

Not made your mind up yet?

Here’s our verdict on the good and less good elements of the GoDaddy affiliate program:

GoDaddy Affiliate Program: Pros

GoDaddy supports a wide range of payment methods.

Affiliates can access lots of banners and other marketing materials to promote GoDaddy’s various web services.

As the market leader in the hosting world, GoDaddy has extremely strong brand recognition.

The cookie length is pretty generous, giving you the best chance of earning money from the customers you refer.

Commission Junction is one of the best affiliate networks, making it easy to track sales and access marketing materials.

GoDaddy Affiliate Program: Cons

The commission rate is pretty low compared to some other web hosting companies (e.g. with SiteGround, top-performing affiliates can earn $100+ per sale)

Recurring commissions would be more attractive than a one-off bounty payment.

Should You Join the GoDaddy Affiliate Program?

If you have an audience that’s interested in the types of products and services GoDaddy sells, this affiliate program is a total no-brainer.

Sure, the commissions aren’t amazing.

But GoDaddy is so well known that you won’t have to work too hard to close the deal.

Still, there are no guarantees of success. First, you’ll need to build your own affiliate website (or optimize your existing site to drive as many sales as possible).

We’ve built authority sites in dozens of niches, so we can definitely help here.
